okay i quit little caesars in december of '09 and went back in May of '10. Applebees Hostess required to take Alcohol servsafe exam?
My girlfriend is a hostess at applebees, her managers are telling her she must take an Alcohol server exam to be able to continue working. This exam costs 30 dollars and is about serving alcohol, laws, intoxication levels..ect. Should she be required to take this exam if she is only a hostess, and does not intend on becoming a server anytime in the future?? KY laws require you to be 20 years of age in the day to server alcohol and she is only 19. Is an Server Assistant at Applebees worth it?
I've heard that I'll only be making like $5.00 an hour. But that's not the NYC legal minimum wage so I don't see how that's possible. Manager asked me to come back Friday to talk about the job. I recommend the Sizzling Chicken Skillet. It has strips of grilled, marinated chicken breast served in a skillet with steamed peppers, squash, mushrooms and onions; served with pico de gallo, roasted tomato salsa, salsa ranch dressing, shredded lettuce and wheat tortillas. In a saucepan combine butter, heavy cream, and cream cheese. Simmer this until all is melted, and mixed well. Add the Parmesan cheese and Garlic powder. Simmer this for 15 - 20 minutes on low. You may wish to season with a little salt and pepper. I have done this with half and half, but we prefer the heavy cream. I think you mean INSPECTOR and that would be a position in the kitchen to double check meals as they get 'plated' and sent out to the dining room-making sure the right combinations are on the plates, each table getting their right food orders, etc.

You have to factor many things into play here.
First off is location, because if you find a diner next to a huge string of hotels, that could have the potential to be more of a gold mine than a fancy, top dollar restaurant, especially in this economy. Most of the time, rich people are very tight with their money; it's the common Joe-Shmoe that truly understands how hard you work for your money.
Secondly is which shift you work. Breakfast at a diner is really good money; dinner shift, not so much. Lunch shifts at a chain restaurant can be hit-or-miss, but those kinds of places are usually very good at dinner. Fancy restaurants vary from location to location and season to season.

I bartend at Ruby Tuesday and it is very very hectic. In addition to taking care of all the guests at the bar (ours seats 22), the bartender also has 4 bar tables (which seat 4 each). As well as making all the alcoholic drinks, smoothies, milkshakes, and specialty drinks that the servers ring in. And in our store, most of the time the ToGo! person gets switched to the floor because they needed an extra server and the bartender has to take all the ToGo! orders as well, which involves also bringing the bags out to the guests' car.
I'm always running around like lightening trying to make sure everyone's glasses are full and their food comes correctly.
We also have a new line of handcrafted beverages, such as our Zero Fresh Strawberry Lemonade, which involves muddling fresh strawberries and squeezing fresh lemons per order. It isn't a 30 second creation like a rum and coke; it takes a bit more finesse.
We sell a lot more drinks than people realize, I'm sure. On Friday and Saturday nights we usually have two bartenders, but during the day and all the other nights there's only one. And, no matter what, everyone wants something from you at once!
On Fridays our liquor and beer shipments come in, which usually consists of cases upon cases, which all need to be opened and loaded into the locked beer cage in the cooler. I do that when I have a spare minute between rushes, but I usually end up staying fifteen minutes after the next bartender comes to relieve me doing that because we're too busy.
At our store, the bartenders also have to wash their own bar glasses, as they're too fragile to go through the dishwasher in the kitchen. They just have to be washed by hand. I do this whenever I have a spare moment. If I don't I'll run out of glasses and that's not good. Our draft beers are served in a frozen mug, so the glasses need to be cleaned and put in the freezer ASAP so they're cold for the next guest.
To top it all off, our orange juice is fresh squeezed by the bartenders every morning. In fact, tomorrow morning I will probably spend 3 hours juicing oranges to make 2 containers.
I absolutely enjoy my job though. It's fast-paced, fun, and I basically control how much money I make by giving the best service I can to my guests. And on a really crazy night over 300 dollars....and the most ive personally seen a server walkout with in one night was 430 dollars for one night. And the only tip splitting or tip sharing we do is that each servers tips out 3% of whatever their sales were for the shift or 25 dollars whichever is lower and that money gets split up between the bartenders, hosts, and food expeditors. SIMPLE SOLUTION: This healthful version is made with vegetable stock rather than the usual beef broth, so it is lower is saturated fat--but still totally delicious. You can serve this soup the French way, with a thick slice of toasted farmhouse bread and melted cheese, or plain. Either way, the healthful properties of onions will help keep you and your family in the pink of health this winter.
INGREDIENTS
8 cups onions, sliced in thin crescents
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 to 6 tablespoons butter or oil 5 cups good-quality vegetable stock or water
Tamari or miso to taste
Thickly-sliced toasted country bread (optional garnish)
Grated Gruyere cheese (optional garnish)
1. In a soup pot, heat the butter or oil over medium-high heat and fry ginger and garlic for a couple of minutes. Add onions and stir until heated through.

I love Spinach %26amp; Artichoke Dip. I find that if I order one for myself, or buy one and make it at home, I can eat the dip and chips as a small meal. They also have French Onion Soup, and sometimes offer Vegetable Soup (of course, ask if it's made with chicken/beef broth). Pasta w/o meat.
If you go ANYWHERE, and they DO NOT have immediate VEGETARIAN options, ask the waiter or TALK TO A CHEF. They are almost ALWAYS willing to work with what you can/can not eat. Of course, know your own limitations.

I love Spinach %26amp; Artichoke Dip. I find that if I order one for myself, or buy one and make it at home, I can eat the dip and chips as a small meal. They also have French Onion Soup, and sometimes offer Vegetable Soup (of course, ask if it's made with chicken/beef broth). Pasta w/o meat.
If you go ANYWHERE, and they DO NOT have immediate VEGETARIAN options, ask the waiter or TALK TO A CHEF. They are almost ALWAYS willing to work with what you can/can not eat. Of course, know your own limitations.

1 small onion sliced
2 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup of crispy bacon bits
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
1 clove minced garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons dijon mustard
2 tablespoons sugar
Extra-virgin olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Begin by caramelizing the onions as this takes the longest. Add a 2-count of olive oil to a large pan over medium heat. Add the onions and caramelize with the first measure of sugar and salt - this takes about 20 minutes. The onions should be a nice brown color and tender and creamy when done. Set aside.
Cook the bacon bits until crispy and fat has rendered. When done, use a slotted spoon to remove bacon and drain on a paper towel. In the same pan with the bacon fat, add the red-wine vinegar (make sure you take the pan off the heat to do this), the garlic, mustard, sugar and a splash of extra-virgin olive oil - there should be approximately 1/3 cup of dressing. Bring to a gentle simmer whilst stirring to scrape the brown bits off the bottom of the pan and help dissolve th sugar. Season with salt and pepper then shut off heat.
In a large mixing bowl add the spinach, caramelised onions, crispy bacon bits and grated egg. Pour over the warm bacon dressing and toss well to combine everything. Serve immediately."
