My girlfriend is a hostess at applebees, her managers are telling her she must take an Alcohol server exam to be able to continue working. This exam costs 30 dollars and is about serving alcohol, laws, intoxication levels..ect. Should she be required to take this exam if she is only a hostess, and does not intend on becoming a server anytime in the future?? KY laws require you to be 20 years of age in the day to server alcohol and she is only 19. She should not pay for it. The restaurant is required by law to have it's staff certified, and they should be responsible for paying for it.

Go ahead and bite the bullet. This will help her to spot the drunk folks.Which is a good thing. Yes the course is boring but she will maybe learn something, and if she does become a waitress, this will be under her belt. P.s You make more money as a waitress anyway.

they suck. a lot. i feel bad for your girlfriend.
they might want to make her serve at some time, but i do agree, if they want her to take the exam they should pay for it.
