What would be my base wage at Applebees, Chiles (or a restaurant just like those two)?

It would be nice if some servers would answer or loved ones of servers who may know, thank you. I live in Iowa, but could conceivably commute to larger cities. What would be my base wage at Applebees, Chiles (or a restaurant just like those two)?
You'll make minimum wage, plus tips. Take home tips depend on a number of factors. One is the specific location of the restaurant and the type of clientele it attracts. Another is how exactly the restaurant organizes its tip sharing (i.e. one usually gives some of one's tips to the busboys, bartenders, etc.). Also, I know tipping varies regionally, so it would be hard to project to Iowa, as all my serving experience is in California. It also depends on what shifts you work. Weekday lunches are typically weakest, weeknights a little better, Saturday and Sunday afternoon are good, and Friday and Saturday night are the best.

That said, I can tell you that I worked at a Red Robin, which is in the same ballpark as the two other corporate chains you mentioned here. While there, I could count on taking home 20-50 dollars in tips on a weekday lunch, 40-60 during a weeknight, 50-80 during Saturday/Sunday afternoon, and 60 or more on Friday or Saturday night. These are, of course, generalized figures. Some servers will consistently earn more than others, and some shifts will just be slow and no one will make any money. Other times, things will be bangin and at the end of the night you'll be exhausted but leaving with a nice wad of cash.

The most I ever made at Red Robin was probably just above 125.

Serving is a great temporary job. Just don't count on it to be a career. Its bad for your health. What would be my base wage at Applebees, Chiles (or a restaurant just like those two)?
woah, you will not make minimum wage. i work at applebees. they pay $2.13 an hour. you can make really good money in tips, but your base pay will be lower than min wage. and you wont see much of it in a paycheck because they tax your tips and take it out of a pay check. min are anywhere from $0 to $40 every two weeks. but i can make $75 to $130 per shift, even in the middle of the week. the most i ever made in one shift was $256. so the tips can make up for it if you are in a busy restaurant. im in texas, though, so it may be different there. What would be my base wage at Applebees, Chiles (or a restaurant just like those two)?
Hi I worked at Applebee's for 3 years. Almost any server in any restaurant makes $2.13 an hour. Its the minimum wage for tipped employees. As a server trainer I made $3 but thats it! But don't let that discourage you, its all about the tips you pull in. I made about $100 a night there. What would be my base wage at Applebees, Chiles (or a restaurant just like those two)?
