The amount of money you will not only depend on what shift you work , but also on the quality of service you provide and the location of the restaurant . i find that Most servers make around 60/slow shift, 100/ mid-paced shift and 150+ for a busy shift. Be sure to work extra fast during a busy shift, guest wont care that you have 7 other tables all they care about is that you brought them a cold hamburger. If you know it will take awhile for their food , explain that to them , offer them a refill for their drink and if you location allows it bring them a complimentary appetizer or a bread basket. although they may have to wait , they don't have to wait unhappily. I work as a server myself and have worked in several different states . I find that you make the most money in tourist areas however you can also make lots working in a non tourist area from regular customers. If you go out of your way to make the guest feel welcomed and special , you are sure to receive a good tip . Be attentive Anticipate their needs and you will do fine. I work at a resturant, if there is a TGI fridays around, apply there, same food, higher check averages = higher wages. But that is based on your ability to serve their food and drinks with a smile, fast and accurate. If I don't leave making 20% of my daily sales after tipping out the busser and the bar, I could have had a better day. Good luck to you!
